Lizzy Hoo is many things: a comedian, presenter, writer, noodle enthusiast, rugby lover and rescue greyhound owner. And that’s not even half of it! First trying her hand at stand-up in 2017 as a means to boost self-confidence, Hoo rapidly rose to the top of the chuckle chain: being invited to perform at the Just For Laughs Festival at the Sydney Opera House.
Her 2019 debut stand-up show Hoo Am I? (What’s My Name?) saw the comedian launch herself internationally, where her identity gags (being Chinese-Malaysian/Irish-Australian) earnt her a new legion of fans and left audiences hungry for more (and we’re not talking Irish stew). In 2021, she packed houses across the country for her sell-out festival show Hoo Dis?. After seeing her on The Project and The Cook Up with Adam Liaw, catch Lizzy Hoo in person at Wanderer.
