Hello Wanderer family, gosh time flies! It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 5 months since our magical weekend together on the beautiful Sapphire Coast. In that time we’ve pondered and planned how best to keep on producing Wanderer from now until the end of time.
It’s no small task and the long and the short of it is we’ve decided to go Biennial – and if you’re like us and always get confused between biannual and biennial… It means we’re going to be coming together on this very special place in Yuin country every two years instead of every year. This year’s our ‘gap’ year, so please mark 3rd-5th October, 2025 in your diaries for our next coming together.
We will miss you all this year but we will put the extra prep time to good use and are already busy working on bringing you the best ever Wanderer Festival next year. We promise it will be worth the wait!
“But why?” Straight from the horse’s mouth, Festival founder Simon Daly said in a press statement today:
“We have created something very special and really important for the NSW Far South Coast and there’s a great sense of responsibility that comes with that. We have to make sure we are always taking the best pathways to keep producing the most amazing and sustainable event possible.”
“An event of this scale really needs more than 12 months lead time to prepare. We’ve been incredibly lucky with the quality of artists so far but we don’t want to rely on luck – a longer lead time opens up so many more options, particularly in terms of international artists who plan their touring schedules 1-2 years in advance.”
“Events are all-consuming for everyone involved and moving to a biennial format feels more sustainable. An event every two years gives everyone a breather and more time to plan. It also gives our audience a chance to do other things every second year.”
Wanderer Festival made its phenomenal debut in 2022 and cemented itself last year as a spectacular 3 day event of world-class music and arts set in its stunning Pambula Beach location. Attracting 8,800 people from all over Australia, Wanderer is thoughtfully produced with social, cultural and environmental values at the forefront. Wanderer’s unique approach to inclusivity creates both diversity and unity, setting Wanderer apart from other events.
Already booked your trip? Come anyway! You’ll have more time to explore this wonderful part of the world – the whales will be putting on a show; the Gravity Eden Mountain Bike Park and trails are brand new and world class and our cultural offerings are equally fine.
